Mr. Nice Guy...

Nice guy, no serious girlfriends?By Matt Schneiderman We all know this guy—or are this guy: in his 30s, affable, attractive, and yet he’s never been in a serious long-term relationship. And as his single status stretches into a third decade, one has to wonder: What’s the deal? Far from being undateable, this guy may simply not be ready to change his independent ways. Or, he may be all too willing to do so—but something’s blocking him. If you feel you may fall into the latter category, stop worrying about what’s slowing you down and read on to learn about how five types of die-hard bachelors contribute to their still-single status, and what you can do to break the cycle.

The workaholic
For the guy who makes work priority number one, a relationship can seem like a hindrance for which he hasn’t the time or energy. It’s likely that he’s set lofty career goals for himself—perhaps finishing medical school, rising to partner in his law firm or starting his own business—with due dates, say by age 35. Take it from Doug, 31, of Washington, D.C.: “My main focus is getting to a point in my career where I am stable and accomplished enough to move onto a job that I really want to do,” he says. “I can’t sacrifice or compromise my career path for anyone yet.”

Reality check: Waiting for the “right time” isn’t the solution, according to Ian Kerner, Ph.D., author of DSI: Date Scene Investigation. “He needs to understand that life doesn’t start when he schedules it,” Dr. Kerner points out. And it needn’t be a lonely climb to the top: Rather than derail his career, a supportive mate could provide stability, encouragement, and an attentive ear. And for the guy who is working to become husband-worthy, consider this: 91 percent of women in a Match.com survey reported that they tend to fall in love with a moderately successful career person with a balanced life rather than a very successful workaholic.

The partier
For this guy, weekends in Vegas and hitting up the newest bars and clubs has too much appeal to entertain the possibility of settling down. Says self-described “committed bachelor” Sean, 30, of Brooklyn: “I go out to have a good time — drink, dance, have fun — and not to meet someone.”

Reality check: As the Sean’s of the world mature, they may notice that party-hardy peers are becoming fewer in number or that the average age of his social circle — and of his dates — remains constant as he ages. Another warning sign? More numbers in his cell phone for “friends with benefits” than those of actual friends. The bottom line is, for all the fun of casual encounters and late nights out, a partier could do well to understand that a committed relationship has its own joys, too—even excitement and novelty. “These guys are adrenaline junkies, and fear that a commitment to one person will be no fun," says Dr. Kerner. “But really getting to know one person in a relationship can be a source of passion and adrenaline, too.”

The shy guy
It’s a fact: Meeting women requires conversation—which can be problematic for a shy guy and stunt his relationship prospects. “I go out with the express purpose of meeting, but I hardly ever screw up enough courage to talk to strangers,” admits Alex, 31, of Raleigh, NC. “Even if I do, I wuss out and leave before I get anywhere.”

Reality check: Rather than forcing social behavior in a high-stress situation like at a bar, shy guys may be better off searching for potential mates who share affinities. “The shy guy doesn’t have to walk up to someone cold,” says Dr. Kerner. “Instead, he should put himself in situations that present opportunities for easy conversation.” Dr. Kerner suggests theater clubs, team sports, or anything else with expectations for regular participation, like volunteering. Or, if you do start dating someone, suggest making it a double date, or an activity date, thereby reducing the pressure of a one-on-one.

The too-picky guy
For all his many, many first dates, this guy is resolutely single, never having met anyone who quite fits his mold for the ideal mate. He is convinced that there is someone out there and is alternately determined to find The One or frustrated by his inability to do so. Says Andrew, 30, of Scarsdale, NY: “It’s impossible for me to compromise,” he says. “I can’t settle for someone who doesn’t attract me physically, emotionally, intellectually and so on.” Compounding this inability to compromise is the belief that perfection in another exists—a notion that could lend itself to fantasies of discovering love at first sight. “A guy with impossibly high standards may fall for someone, but then he’ll see this person’s flaws and imperfections and become disappointed,” says Dr. Kerner. Unfortunately, this can lead to discounting potentially great matches, as the picky guy may be unwilling to give a date with, say, a tendency to use emoticons in emails or “too short” hair a chance.

Reality check: What these guys need to accept is that no one’s perfect—and include themselves in that statement. And, in Dr. Kerner’s opinion, “There is no such thing as a soul mate,” he says. “Rather, it’s the journey of building a great relationship over time that leads to a 'soul mate’-type closeness.” So the next time you’re iffy about a girl, give her more of a chance before you write her off.

The none-of-the-above guy
Of course, there are guys who might not fall into (just) one of these categories, who are comfortable with themselves, outgoing, and trying to meet someone to share their lives with—but for whom it just hasn’t happened yet. Guys like “chronically single” Greg, 30, of Boston, explains: “I’m ready to give my heart to someone and to do some hard work to find her, but I have yet to find that person.”

Reality check: Keeping adages such as “Love happens when you least expect it” in mind may not totally assuage feelings of “What the heck is going on here?” but suffice to say that this still-single guy is not alone—and won’t be for long if he keeps an open mind, gets active in organizations that provide opportunities to meet others, and gives luck (or Cupid) a basis to work off of. “Regardless of his circumstances, the important thing for a single guy in his 30’s to do is to put himself in situations where he’s meeting women—whether it’s making time to join in activity groups, dating online, or signing up for singles’ events,” says Dr. Kerner. So, single guy, keep your chin up and continue taking those leaps of faith into the dating pool. Sooner or later, you’ll find someone who sees you for the catch you truly are.

Wake up from my long break.....

After a long break from the Msian working atmosphere... i.e. was on my 8 months backpacking to New Zealand... on my working holiday visa... I'm eager to get back to the workforce!
Despite knowing the work culture here!

During my break in NZ, i contemplated... what i really want for my future??? In view of many factors i had and coming from a different background and exposures. Finally i decided to move on with my firmed direction -Event Management- To most of you, who worked with my before and know me better would know that i protrayed a strong passion in this field. Perhaps its an inborn traits which i had within myself... to plan and organize big scale event.

I've been hunting for job for almost a month and had been very selective this time... to be frank i had forgone many opportunities... but most of it nothing to do with event management. Let me share with you one thing, if you decided to have a holiday to Cameron Highland for its fresh and cooling environments, greens, peaceful and quiet lifestyle... i'm sure the bus ticket you should be getting in to Cameron Highland and not to Genting Highland. Well you still can make a choice... but my point is why wasting time when you have decided an ideal destination???

I am lucky to get my ideal job. And co-inciddently there two job offers came at the same time... this really giving a hard time to choose. Somehow finally i made up my mind and pick up the best among the two. My upcoming job is kinda interesting... I will be managing projects... to overseas the planning, organizing and overall functions of the event under my care. This time i will be having 3 staffs under my department. it's time for me to climb the corporate ladder again! See you at the top.

Reach to the TOP

Some people owiz said i wanna achieve something, wanna earn more money, i want to have big car, house etc...

But have we ever think of what direction that we should move? How to achieve what we really want in life? Perhaps we should ask ourself what is the thing we actually wanna achieve in life? Is't all about money? happiness?? or work satisfaction???

Life is like climbing up a narrow mountain, whether you achieve to the peak is another question. Some people even tend to giv up half way due to the difficulties, challenge and obstacle the faced along the way. But as you over come it, you will felt this is the most greatest thing happen in life! I'll normally sit at the top for some time, not juz to catch my breath, but to appreciate and enjoy the feeling of achievement.

If you already have what objective in life... then work towards it, why waste time and tend to regret later. By the time we decide to move our step. i might be too late! So guys and girls... let's take a leap and see you at the TOP!

A day for yourself....

In todays world, the work phenomena had make a huge impact on our Standard of Living. People seem to work hard in order to achieves what they way in life. Do they really realize that each single minutes will eventually deteriorating their own health if the person dont really know how to manage and have a balance of life???

How often we actually sit down and have time for ourself? The moment that will leaves your brain stop thinking and relax, rejuvenating and recharge.

Back to where i belong....

No where is better to where you come from...

Being a backpacker, my lifestyle is uncertain, dynamic and always on the move. The best part is you gotta see the world out there!

Well lots of you must be curious what's a BIG deal?? or what's so different than what we have here? Perhaps i would say Malaysia still the best, the only different is i've gained great exposure in life by experiencing another culture, country and the different style of living.

This trip really have changed the way i see things today.

Perceive of Happiness.....

Recently, I read an article by Dr. Martin Seligman, a former president of the American Psychological Association. In his article, he shared some valuable insights from his latest research. The objective of this research was to discover, based on empirical data collected from around the world, fulfillment in life. He was able to identified the three main sources of fulfillment.

The first, is living a pleasant life - Hedonic Happiness.
The second, is using one's higest strengths and virtues in one's various spheres of activity and relationships with others.
The third one is deploying one's highest strengths in the service of something larger than oneself.

From this three, you will notice the second and the third source of fulfillment provide much deeper and more spriritual feeling of fulfillment than the first one. What i would like to stress here is, happiness is not determined by materials or econimic wealth or social life. The key to leading a fulfilled life, free of regrets, is to dedicate ourself to a cause, a goal that is lager that us. If you are practising it, then you are leading the greatest of all possible lives - lives of unsurpassed value-creation.
